What is Digital Design?
The subject aims to examine rule-based thinking in digital design through the processes of modeling and fabrication. The ability to develop this thinking through contemporary techniques of abstraction, evaluation, formulation, and transformation of information as ideas and knowledge is critical in digital design. The various roles I have had brought forth a variety of responsibilities which have been an amazing opportunity in what is considered one of the main key units of the Melbourne School of Design.
Tutor: As a tutor often teaching between 2 to 3 studios per semester I was responsible of delivering the content while providing guidance and feedback to the students in regards to the various assignments. This included small lectures, marking assignments, moderating presentations.
Senior Technical Tutor: As Senior technical tutor I have been responsible for coordinating the technical tutors of the unit (4-6 staff members per semester) and coordinating and delivering the workshops of the unit. These workshops have been delivered both in person (pre-pandemic), recorded (during pandemic) and in blended learning (post-pandemic). As senior technical tutor I was also responsible of providing tech support to the entire cohort through meetings both in person and online.
Senior Tutor: As senior tutor I was responsible of coordinating the unit content alongside Paul which included various tasks:
- Preparing unit content (lectures, assignments, canvas, etc..)
- Managing online content (LMS/ Canvas, Social Platforms etc..)
- Managing staff (15 Tutors, 6 Tech Tutors) which included staff meetings, moderation meetings, pay-schedules etc....
- Managing student communications which included student support, extensions, AAPs, enrollments, grievances etc...
- Preparing exhibitions (MSDx Exhibition)
- Moderating all grades.
